I had this problem with a 5100 c scanner and found that when I went into
scsi controllers there was a generic parallel device in there which I
removed. then I uninstalled all the hp software and reinstalled it again.
after rebooting the scanner worked fine.
The only difference here is that my scanner is a parallel scanner, not a
usb.

Paul.

"Your scanner is currently being accessed by another application. Please
wait
for the other application to finish or close it to allow this application
process." I have uninstalled the scanner and reinstalled it. I have
checked
my connections, etc., but have had no luck. There is no explanation point
in
the Device Manager section. It also says that there are "no conficts" and
"device is working properly". Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
