PC specs - IBM Netvista, Pentium II chip, 128 MB Ram, 30 GB HD Windows ME OS.

Recently PC began Freezing with no new software installed and is not internet active so I ruled out virus. Goes through emtire boot sequence but when desktop appears I lose Keyboard & mouse. Reinstalled Windows ME and had the same problem. Took the HD and put it in another PC and it booted fine. When ask to look at it I discovered the cooling ports in the back where plugged completely with dust. The fan that pulls air over the Proccesor in in the power supply. Is this likly an overheated and damaged chip and is there a diag boot program that tests it. If I boot to floppy I can work in the prompt fine but as soon as I try to access windows it freezes. Thanks
