Problem solved. After trying all your suggestions and nothing working, I
finally got my nerve up and went into the setup when the computer first boots
up. I discovered that the ports were disabled. After enabling the ports in
the setup, my scanner is working fine now. Thanks for all the suggestions.
Who would have figured that Gateway would have disabled the ports when
installing the new modem? I set the ports to "enable". One of them was set
to "Auto". Hope I didn't mess anything by changing them all to "enable".

Thanks again,
Susan Hays

>Sometimes unplugging the USB from the printer to the computer after you
uninstall and prep and re-install the software. Plug the USB connection back
in after restart and windows should load the software at that time. This is
one way and hope that this helps. It works with most of the HP printers we
have at our site.
