did you try a lens cleaner for the cd drive?
same tthing happened to me a while ago.
i channged some things around on my box and the cd wouldn't read.
drove me crazy for a week! on a hunch i bought a cd cleaning kit.....
and bingo!! cd was all better.
sometimes we overlook the obvious.
