MaryJane,

It sounds like the drive is going bad OR there are loose connections inside
the machine.

Point to MY COMPUTER and click the RIGHT mouse button.
Now select (click) PROPERTIES and then click the DEVICE MANAGER tab (at the
top).
Tell us if you see any yellow triangles and where they are.
