I have been trying to add a CDRW unit to my PC. The PC is an HP
Vectra VL PII 266 CPU with Phoenix Bios 4.05W and 64M RAM. The CDRW
unit is a Ricoh MP9060A. Ricoh has verified there is no problem with
the unit. It reads CDs without a problem, but I cannot write at all.
I've used Adaptec CD Creator with several different brands/types of
CD, all with the same result. When I push the button to actually
write the CD, the software hangs and the CD unit is unusable until I
power-down the PC. Ricoh had me try the Nero utility to verify the
problem is with the CD unit and not the CD Creator software, other
than that, they've not been much help. I suspected a bios or firmware
issue - the Ricoh firmware is up-to-date - that leaves the Phoenix
bios. Could this be the problem or am I way off base? Thanks for any
suggestions.
