Hi gang,

Hope I am posting this correctly.
Love the help you all provide
learned so many possibilites.
First time I am posting.

I have a 486 Gateway 200 33dx--approximate date of 1990.
I reformatted my 212 mb hard drivefor the first time
It has no bad sectors .
Everything works well
Boot floppy is 5 1/4
second floppy is 3 1/2.
After formatting, computer now tells me I have a hard disk controller failure.
I put the hd on another computer and that disk is fine.
So i know it is not the hard drive, I even tried another ribbon.
This HD is on IDE 1, I even tried putting it on IDE 2 with the same result.
I attempted to install DOS from the second floppy, and it installed despite the failure issue,
where I received a please press f1 to continue or F2 to go to setup.
After that attempt to install DOS, thge error came up again, nbut this time I could notcontiue despite hitting f1 as instructed and also It now tells me I have no boot drive. All was working well until I did an unconditional format to the hard drive. The computer had Dos and win 3.11 on it in rem., Never had a days grief with the machine till now. I do not beieve i blew out the mother board, and we already discoverd the HD is still fine as well as the ribbon. I checked my BIOS settings which are set for me to manually put the drive specs in and all seems ok. WHAT IS HAPPENING. HELP ME PLEASE.
