     This used to be a problem with the first few
versions of EIDE controllers. It dealt with the
controller only being able to support a single PIO
mode per channel, so if you had a hard drive PIO mode
4 and a CDROM PIO mode 1, the channel was restricted
to PIO mode 1. This limitation no longer exists and
the two devices act independantly of each others PIO
modes. TTYL
