It is a PS/2 mouse. I won't replace the computer of course, but I just 
wanted to add that since that's what type of answer I usually get when I 
mention the age of my computer.

But how would I know if it is the mouse or not? I wanted to make sure that 
is the problem before I buy a new one. I lost my job so every penny saved 
counts.

Is this a USB mouse or a PS/2?
I would certainly replace the mouse before the computer. Are there any
