Anne,
I had an X-75 and Best Buy was right. It will cost more to fix than to buy
another. If your looking for just an all around printer Lexmark is a good
choice. I have an X-1150 now and it works just great. It's an all-in-one,
much smaller and looks real nice. There are a few newer models now and run
around $80.00.

My Lexmark X75 All In One Printer appears to have died (less than three
years old). It won't power up, and people at Best Buy tell me it would cost
almost as much to look at and repair as a new one.

If you are considering any inkjet printer, investigate the cost of
replacement ink cartridges.
Replacing the ink cartridges on a low-end Lexmark (Z22 or 32, perhaps?) is
more expensive than
buying a whole new printer. Not exactly what I'd consider cost-effective.

As other posters have mentioned, consider what you intend to use the printer
for. If you want photo
printing capabilities, you will want a different model than if you just want
to print the occasional color
poster or brochure. If you print high quantity on a regular basis, you may
want a laser. Their per page
printing costs tend to be much lower than inkjet's.

If scanning and fax capabilities are "must-haves", you may want to consider
a small/home office rated device, rather than a home oriented device for
durability concerns. Echoing other posters again, read reviews at sites
such as PCWorld, Tomshardware, and others to get a feel for what's out there
and what various device capabilities are.
