Subject: [PCBUILD] HP Pavilion XL844 Lightning Strike?

> Hi

ATX(?) HP? Are the connectors to the mother board and drives the same?

> A friend has a "HP Pavilion XL844" computer she bought a year ago. This
weekend we had a thunder storm and when she got home her computer would not
work. It was plugged in to the wall power outlet and the cable (internet).

The monitor goes on but just stays black. Ive told her its proably no good
but she wants me to look at it any way. My first thought is the power
supply must be bad. My question is can I take the power supply from an old
AT machine (p200) that I have and use it in her ATX machine? Her power
supply reads "output 185W", my old one says "200W". Thank you.
