If I recall correctly one can, technically, use "10BaseT," Unshielded
Twisted Pair (UTP), cabling up to a segment distance of 100 meters (about
300') which would be more than enough for your needs. It is quite common
and relatively inexpensive. I'm not as sure, though, that all, or most,
NICs have that type of connector (RJ-45). If not, then your card probably
has a BNC (Bayonet Naur Connector) type. This would be used with "10Base2"
(or Thinnet) cabling which has a maximum length of 185 meters (600+').

Subject: [PCBUILD] ethernet connections

I have a Compaq 1700 and a Compaq 5600 of which both have ethernet
connectors. they are about 50 ft apart. Can I connect them together and if
so, how? What connections do I use?
