Hi, I have known a storm to cause a modem to stop functioning on more than
one occasion after a storm.
Also, I have known the same storm to not only 'break' the modem, but to
cause the slot in the m/b to cease functioning.
Before you condemn the modem, it may be worth trying it in another slot to
rule that out.
I have a friend whose computer runs perfectly well, but one of her ports is
unusable. Luckily for her, there were a couple of spare ones.
I'm told this is quite common after a storm.
