I use a KVM switch, same setup with XP on one and WIN 7 on the other.  I 
managed after much trial and error to get mine to work with a wireless 
keyboard and mouse, but I would suggest you use standard usb for both and it 
will set up easily.  The KVM switch accepts the monitor plug with no 
problems.  Shop around:  I found an IOGear switch, but there are several 
good ones.  And expense doesn't necessarily signify better.  Mine was about 
$55 and they have them for less.
