APC makes a perfect combo for this.  APC UPS and Powerchute software that
will initiate a shut down after so many minutes on battery (you pick the
time).  Use on my servers and hubs and all important stuff. Works like a
champ.  Never a failure or a miss. "Highly recommended" as Jerry would say.
