Old RAM will not fit in newer PCs
old RAM are 72 pin or SD RAM
new RAm is DDR variety

a visual inspection of the contact surfaces should help you eliminate bad ram.

72 pin is either fast page or EDO
SD Ram is either PC100 or Pc133

Ram likes to be paired with same type.  So install them in pairs.

Ram is quite cryptic.  You really must try them out.
