        Well it works now, thanks to all for the advice especially Rick Glazier,
whose suggestion put me on the right track. As it turns out, all my
reinstalling didn't work because the copy of TCP/IP 2 was corrupted. Two
things, first I don't remember installing this update, and two it set itself
up to overide my installing of TCP/IP 1. I checked MS and they on some
obscure article mentioned something about TCP/IP 2 interrupting operation if
it wasn't installed correctly. It suggested I run a bat file in the ws2bakup
directory named ws2bakup.bat. After running that outside of windows and
restarting it finally worked. Thanks again, and I apoligize for the multiple
postings, I won't even go into why that happened. TTYL
