I have gotten around this in the past by booting to DOS, deleting the WIN.com file in C:\windows. Then run the SETUP.exe from DOS. Reinstall with whatever CD Key you have into the same Windows directory.

Hi,
The number to which you refer is just a registration number, not the
product I.D.I also don't think you can check MY COMPUTER for
anything if he can't get the product I.D. since one needs that to
install windows!
