        Hello everyone, I am having a problem installing a U.S. Robotics 3C5610A
modem in a new system I have built.

MSI K7T266 Pro 2 motherboard (on board sound)
        Athlon 1800+ CPU
        256 DDR 2100 memory
        U.S. Robotics 5610A 56k modem
Windows XP home version (fresh install)
Leadtek GeForce2MX 64 meg. video card AGP

When I install the modem in any PCI slot, Windows XP on boot up says it
has found 2 new hardware items, "PCI Serial Port" AND the "U.S. Robotics
56k modem". It then gives the error message that "hardware could not be
installed", that there is a problem. When I go to the device manager it
has added a "PCI Serial Port" under "Other devices" and has a yellow
question mark icon next to it. It also shows that there is a problem with
the device. The USR modem is not listed. Installing the modem using add new
hardware is unsuccessful. I believe I have a bad setting in BIOS that is
causing the conflict but am lost as to what it may be. BTW, the modem is
the only PCI card I have tried to install. The system seems to run well
aside from this problem. U.S. Robotics support was no help and I could not
even get through to MSI support. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

                                                TIA,
Alan Bentley <[log in to unmask]>
