  My handiest reference -- Cisco CCNA Study Guide -- shows no
reduction in Cat5 cable lengths going from 10Base-T to 100Base-TX;
100 meters overall in each case.  Pushing close to the limit is a bit
risky, but cutting back to 50m seems unnecessarily conservative.
