I am using an older Gateway 486 DX50 and would like to install a CD Rom drive. I
purchased a SONY CD Rom drive and am not able to get the computer to recognize the
drive. I have plugged the cable into the IDE Port 2 and set the drive as a master.
I have used two different cables to make the connection. With one cable, the light
on the cd drive would flash with the light on the hard drive. When I tried a second
cable, nothing seems to happen. I am also not sure whether I have the correct
driver files on Windows 95. What can I do to get the cd rom drive working? Do you
need the model no. of the cd rom drive? I appreciate any suggestions you can give
me. Thanks, Roger Kocher
