Hi,

My system is a Dell L800r, 512 megs of RAM and a 40 gig HD. I have it
set up to dual boot with Win XP. I would now like to get rid of the
dual book and install WinXP over my WinME installation. I got tired of
the 'out of resources' errors with WinME

I called Microsoft and asked if it was okay to do that using the WinXP
upgrade edition that I paid a $100 for. They said yes and to uninstall
the WinXP installation that I have in the dual boot configuration and
then reinstall it over my WinME installation. I want to do that so that
I will have all the software transferred over to WinXP from WinME and I
won't have to reinstall everything.

I went into WinXP into the control panel to uninstall WinXP. The only
things there were a bunch of WinXP hotfixes?? I uninstalled all of
those. Now, there are no programs listed in the WinXP add/remove
programs panel and I still have WinXP installed in a separate partition
on this system.

I also have Partition Magic 8.0 on the WinME system and it shows the
partition for WinXP. Question: can I just delete the WinXP partition
using Partition Magic to get rid of WinXP? Will Partition Magic
reallocate the disk space freed up to the other partitions on the
drive? Will the dual boot option at startup be gone when and if I
delete the WinXP partition?

Thanks...

Loy
