Westly,

Your system or CPU may be overheating. Be sure all your cooling fans are
running. Also, check for a build up of dust on the power supply fan and
cooling inlets. Good luck.

Regards,
Fred Hahnel

Subject: [PCBUILD] coputer shutting down by itself.......

Hi,

I have a problem with my pc. It is an IBM Aptive, Pentium 3, 450 mhz, 96
mbram, two hard drive, one of 13 gb and the other one 17 gb. In the last
day,
when I scan a paper, with a ibm scanner, the computer just freeze, and
restart. Okay, after that, i tried to record a cd, the computer just freeze,
and restart. Okay, after that, I run scandisk on one of the hard drive, and
after one hour, when i wanted to check my computer, the computer just freeze
and restart. This happens a lot when I tried to scan a picture, also when I
am trying to burn a compact disc. But in the last weeks, when I just leave
the computer for an hour of more, when I come back, sometimes it just freeze
and restart by itself. What could the problem be? Could this mean a hardware
problem? The computer is just one year old. I have scanned my computer with
PC Doctor, not under Windows 98, but in DOS, and pc doctor told me there is
nothing wrong with my hardware. One of the hard drive is a ibm hard drive,
and a seagate. The seagate is one month old, and the size is 17 gb.
