I have two floppy drives on my computer. Drive A is a 3.5"
floppy drive. Drive B is 5.25" high density floppy. Neither
one will format a disk. The format routine for both drives
aborts with the error message that sector 0 is bad. I've
tried numerous disks, some new out of the box, in both drives
and they always display the same error.

Likewise, neither drive will read a formatted disk. Both
drives abort with the Not Ready Drive A or B message.

Both drives have worked flawlessly in the past.

Any help on identifying the problem would be appreciated. It
seems like a floppy disk controller problem to me, but it
could be something else; possibly even a software problem with
Win 95.

The system is a Gateway DX2-66V with a pentium upgrade chip.
The floppy drives in question came with the computer. The
operating system is Win 95. It has 40 megs of ram and two
HDs; a 5.3 gig and a 1.2 gig.

Thanks...

Loy Pressley
