Richard;
IMHO Windows ME is kind of like the "new coke" of operating systems.
It really never really caught on and many hardware manufacturers never
bothered writing device drivers for it. It will fade into the sunset as XP
is adopted by most users.
  I would suggest you install Win98SE and have a good stable operating
system,
with drivers available for almost all hardware,
until you upgrade to XP, which appears to be far superior to both WinME and
Win98.

Subject: [PCBUILD] WIN98SE vs. WinME Choice

> I have a choice between reloading a PC with WIN98SE or WinME. This note is
to solicit considered opinions as to whether I will realize significant
benefits between the two. Emotionally I am inclined towards a "newer is
better" mindset but some folks Ive asked that know more than I seem to feel
the benefits ME offeres over 98SE are minimal. Is one more stable than the
other? Your Thoughts?
