Since yesterday, three of my clients of brought me systems attacked
by the CIH virus... the notebook system with a non-flash bios only
lost the hard drive partition. The other two systems lost the BIOS...
so...

I have today chatted with tech support at both MicroStar and
ASUS about motherboards attacked by the CIH virus. Microstar
tells me there is little hope of resurrecting the ROM chip, as they
believe they are damaged. Hot swapping the chip probably will
not solve the problem and more likely than not you will fry your
motherboard.

I was instructed to contact their RMA department to return the Chip
for replacement. They also advised that they will sell the replacement
chip for $15 if the board is out of warranty. That is a great deal less
than the cost of a new motherboard... *wink*

I hope that helps...
