Hello. Using Vista Home Premium, HP Pavilion a1720n.  I just bought the 
above mentioned item. I was wanting to use it to get some files off of my 
old hd's using the USB utility but it doesn't seem to work. In the 
instructions it says to reformat the drives before using which of course 
would defeat the purpose for me. I intend to use this later on as a back-up 
drive AFTER I get the files I need to retreive. Did I buy the wrong thing or 
is there a way to do this?
