A thought, but probably not much help.  I use a Microsoft Intellipoint
scroll mouse at work.  We have a server based host application for our
campus phone book.  Whenever I had the mouse drivers loaded I could not do a
search in the phone book.  It would GPF as soon as I pressed the search
button.  Unload the drivers, and all was well.

How did I fix it?  I reloaded the entire operating system.  I then reloaded
the mouse drivers.  Everything has worked well since.  Why?  I don't have a
clue.
