Just set up an arrangement of my W98SE system which seems to be working very
well so I thought I'd share it with you folks.

I've been using GoBack for a while now, and I think it's a great program.
However, I found that GoBack has a couple of annoying limitations. First, it
doesn't seem to operate too well on big drives that contain a lot of files.
Second, the current version (3.1 DeLuxe) won't let you run the program on
only the OS partition of the drive.

So what I did was this:

I bought a new 20Gb 7200 rpm hard drive and installed W98SE onto it. But
only the OS and nothing else.

I reformatted my existing 40Gb 7200 rpm drive, and set it up as my 'D'
drive.

Then I set up GoBack to run only on the OS drive,C.

Lastly, I finished off by installing all my multitudinous apps, games, docs
pics and MP3's onto D drive, which isn't policed by GoBack.

The result is excellent, and for me, well worth the cost of an extra drive.
I've never had W98SE perform so quickly and efficiently.

Admittedly, I'm using an Athlon 1800+ cpu and 512Mb of DDR ram, but I was
using these same processors prior to this new drive setup, and I reckon I'm
getting 30-50% better performance now. Plus GoBack now only has a few gigs
to look after, so does it's indexing work far faster.

Obviously, a 2Gb drive would have been ample to house Windows, and if I'd
been able to get such a thing in a 7200 rpm model I would have, but 20Gb now
seems to be the smallest available.

FWIW
