I ran into the same problems recently - bought some 128MB DIMMs but they
were only recognized as 64MB. The problem was with the motherboard not
designed to recognize this type of RAM. I also had trouble with a 256MB
DIMM that was recognized only as 128MB on several machines, but worked
fine on a Gateway computer. It is most likely that you have a
motherboard/RAM compatibility problem. This MIGHT be solvable with at
BIOS update.

i have an asus p299-b motherboard w/ 128mb of ram & running under
win98se. i tried adding 1 pc of 128mb sdram. but when installed my
machine detected only an additional of 64mb. it tried also adding 256mb
still 128mb is being detected.
