OK, after wrestling with this "pig" for three days and taking on-board all
the excellent suggestions U guys made, I tried one last thing before taking
it to my local dealer to get if fixed. I cleared the CMOS and then
switched it back on. Win95 then installed without error and I have spent
the morning installing software without problem. Next step is to add
another hard drive on which to install Linux (Red Hat probably).

Thanks for all your help.
