As with many others, I had problems running scandisk even in safe mode due to program interruptions even with the modem unplugged. I started up with the Win98SE startup disk. Two problems:
1. Drive letters are reassigned with no letter for the original drive C: I was able to run scandisk on my second hard disk.
2. There is a string of bad sectors at the end.. At each one, it stops and asks the stupid question "want to fix?" If I have to respond to each of these it will take forever. Is there any way to have it go on and fix without asking? Perhaps there is better software to do the job.
