The problem will be memory related. If you have two pieces of memory
installed, try removing one and reboot the computer. Try this with the
other one to see which is causing the problem. If the problem disappears
altogether with both, it is because the memory was getting corrosion or
getting loose in the slots. If your computer has onboard video, you have to
watch which slot you use as the wrong one will result in no video at all.
Windows XP is very picky when it comes to memory and will exhibit all kinds
of problems leading you to check the hard drive and file system, but memory
is usually the culprit. I hope this helps.

Subject: computer rebooting itself

I am having a problem with my computer rebooting.

I turn it on, wait for the main windows XP screen to open, then click on =
my account to open my desktop. Then my desktop starts to open and the =
computer reboots.

Before today it would reboot once, then be OK, but today it did it =
twice. I'm getting concerned- what can I do about it?

Thanks,
Karen Smith
