Can you use the XP CD to simply boot, say, if you have a problem and can't get boot up? without installing XP?      --AnnaSummers

If you have an XP CD, you don't need the boot disk.
In many cases you can just place the XP CD in the drive and re-boot. The 
XP install will begin automatically.
In other cases you'll need to enter the BIOS and change the boot order 
to CD first.
