  The fact that the COM1 and COM2 ports are *female* (although COM2 appears
to be drawn as male on this page...) indicates that this is a terminal,
intended to connect to a host system over a serial line or modem.  The local
CPU is dedicated to emulation of a variety of popular terminals from years
gone by, and is apparently not available for local application software.
  [The parallel port allows serial data from the host to be redirected to a
local printer for hard copy.]
