To me this sounds like it could be a question for the PCSOFT list. Does this
problem occur regardless of how you open Excel? What happens if you try to
open it by using Windows Explorer and navigate to where the program is
installed? I suspect that somewhere there is an association telling Excel to
try opening "D:*.doc" for some reason. A corrupted registry entry could do
this.

Check out the other ways of opening Excel and get back to us with the
results.
