Thomas,

I learned the hard way not to use the install program that came with the drive. It
did not work well at all and greatly reduced the usability of my machine. All you
need is the NEC_IDE.SYS that is on the floppy.

There are two versions of NEC_IDE.SYS; the single drive version and the changer
version. They are interchangable except for the number of drives enabled.

Win95 will recognize the changer automatically (At least OSR2 does). Remove the
driver line from you CONFIG.SYS and the MSCDEX.EXE line from your AUTOEXEC.BAT.
(While in CONFIG.SYS, make sure your LASTDRIVE= is set high enough to handle the
four extra drive letters.) Remove the CDCHANGER file from your startup, also.

Edit the advanced properties of the EXIT TO DOS file in the WINDOWS folder to add
the drivers to the CONFIG.SYS and AUTOEXEC.BAT loaded from there.

CONFIG.SYS...
    DEVICEHIGH=C:\...    \NEC_IDE.SYS /D:MSCD001 [ /P:1F0, 14 /P:170, 15]
(The extra stuff in brackets is not needed if your machine is normal.)

AUTOEXEC.BAT...
    LH C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND\MSCDEX.EXE /D:MSCD001

Reboot and go to DEVICE MANAGER and select the cdroms and give them the drive
letters you desire in their settings dialogs and reboot. You should be up and
running. If you have any problems or believe you don't have the changer version of
NEC_IDE.SYS (I can send it), just drop me a line at:
