The short and easy way is: use xcopy (If you are using win98). you can
switch the operating system
to the new harddisk, and leave the old drive free to format.
you'll need to:
1) Partition and format the new harddisk
2) open a DOS window (important, this can be only done in DOS window, not in
DOS!!), run command
xcopy c:\*.* new_drive_letter:\ /r/i/c/h/k/e/y
eg if your new drive is E, the command will be
xcopy c:\*.* e:\ /r/i/c/h/k/e/y
3) after copy completed, switch the new drive to primary master (C:) and now
you have everything transfered to the new drive and you are free to do what
even you want on old drive.
