Dorothy,
You don't say what OS you are running, the procedure is different for win98 and XP.

For win98/ME

Right click a blank spot on desktop
Click [new] [shortcut]
In the command line type [C:\WINDOWS\RUNDLL32 SHELL32.DLL,SHExitWindowsEx 8] without the brackets
Click [next] and type a name for the shortcut
Click [finish]

 For XP
Right click on the desktop
Click [New] [Shortcut] to open the Create Shortcut Wizard
Type [shutdown -s -t 00] without the brackets.
Click [Next] and type a descriptive name of your choosing for the shortcut
Click [Finish]

Hope this helps,
Hal Seabolt

Subject: [PCBUILD] Shut Down short cut

Before my PC's packed up, I had a shortcut button on my desktops. Now I'm up and running again I'd like to restore it but I've forgotten the procedure. Can someone remind me?

  Thanks
