I just spent a week on this a while ago. It is a BIOS issue. If the
manufacturer plans to update the BIOS soon and fix the problem, then there
is a workaround. Set the BIOS for that drive to false parameters (such as
drive type #1). Then when the machine boots, it will give an error and let
you press F1 to continue. After that the drive will work fine. I took
another route. Iomega is selling the SCSI insiders with a rudimentary SCSI
card for only a few dollars more the the IDE drive. I replaced the drives in
the 2 offending systems to fix the problem, rather than swap out the
motherboards for a different make.
