This is not the easiest but it is great for me.  I have a 40Gig hard
drive.  I setup the first 3 partitions as Fat16 and make them ~700Meg.
Then the 4th partition is a Fat32 with the remaining space, ~35 Gig.  I
then have a ~700Meg Drive Space file  on each of the Fat16 partitions
and mount them as C:, D: and E:.

C:, I use for Windows
D:, I use for Data/Documents
E:, Spare for reviewing and mounting Drive Space files

I then can backup all of drive C: and D: by copying the "drvspace.000"
file to a backup folder on the FAT32 (~35Gig).  It takes about 2 minutes
to copy the ~700 Meg drive space file (drvspace.000) and that is an
Image of the drive.  Then, since the drive space files are ~700 Meg I
can copy the drive space file to a CDR (700 Meg type) for a permanent
image backup.

If I need something back from the CD backup copy, then I copy it to the
spare partition (E:) and I can then mount it and search for the specific
file that I need to restore!

A little complicated but it works great for me ;-)
