First, does the machine still have a virus? Which wirus was/is there?

Three steps I'd take, in order of preference:

1) Use the backups of system drive [if there are any]
2) Format C: and reinstall OS
3) if 2 does not work, format the MBR and repeat 2

This should do any virus in.
