Greetings Listmembers:

A friend of mine is in the process of adding more memory to his Compaq 4816.
After opening the case I realized how proprietary compaqs are. The system
has 16MB of ram built in, and two available DIMM sockets. The system is a
Pentium 233 MMX, so I know I don't need PC100 memory.

What I want to know is that, since these computers are so proprietary, does
it make a difference on which DIMM's he buys, or should I check with Compaq
about special memory that they may use?

He is running Windows 98, and at 16MB, it just isn't cutting it.

TIA
