I looked around the Sony site and didn't find anything particularly
helpful either. But check this out from Microsoft:

http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/q134/5/32.asp

"During Setup, the Sony CD-ROM drive in your computer may not be
detected."

It goes on to describe how to set it up, etc. Unsure what to offer for
getting the sound card/controller/CD working in DOS, though.
