Hello Susan,

Since you are ordering an internal adsl modem, your options are to continue
using ICS or some other proxy server software, such as Wingate or Sysgate.
(Sorry, no direct experience with either.) With an internal adsl modem you
won't need a second NIC in your host computer.

If you want to use a router, such as the LinkSys that you mentioned, you
will need to see if you can get BellSouth to send you an external adsl modem
instead of the internal model. With a router you will not need to run a
proxy server software such as ICS. The router effectively acts as the host,
running DHCP to provide IP addresses for the computers on your network.
Since you already have a switch, you do not need a router with a built in
switch or hub (which the original LinkSys router included).

Hope this helps,

John
