Yes that is true that SUWIN errors can be caused by a y2k issue. However the f2 version of the bios has a release date on it of Oct 99. Now I did not specifically asked if thie could be a y2k issue in my conversations with Award and Gigabyte. One of my reasons for chosing the GA-7ix MB was the Award Bios which I had on my Fic MB which has submit date of Dec 98, I had no y2k issues with it and have never flashed it.

Granted I am taking a leap of faith with this statement but most y2k issues (with bios)I would guess would have been dealt with by Oct 99.

The MB got some posititve reviews when it first came out and that was another factor in bying it. However when I was having problems and I did some searching on the web I found several sites which pointed out the problems with the bios, They weren't all condeming and basically said what I learned the hard way and refused to belive. That is that the some of the bios chips either had a defect in the chip or the bios program they wern't the majority and most of them got fixed by taking the the f3 version. I probably had a fluke bad chip that just didn't want to work I will know for sure when I get my new chip. There is even the possibility that this chip got damaged in shipping by being bounced around to much. It's unlikely but possibile. Gigabyte isn't doing a recall and they probably don't need to, I kind of look at this way I have purchased millions of flourescent bulbs over 17 years of elec work. Sometimes they get damaged in shipping sometimes they just don't work but it so rare that I don't condem the manufacture, things happen. This time it happened to me with a MB. Gigabyte was helpful through this. They just had to deal with someone who wasn't going to give up until He had some answers.
