I remove the speakers from my US Robotics modems.
Just pry a small screwdriver between the speaker and the pcb board and the
speaker will come right off.   Of course be very carefull with the pcb board.
Or you can desolder the two speaker leads with a soldering iron and pull
the speaker and speaker leads out of the pcb holes.
