Sounds like you need a BIOS upgrade. Older motherboards had limits on how
big of a hard drive they could see. Depending on your board, who
manufacturer it and whether or not they have created new BIOS upggrades for
it - well you may or may not be able to use the entire drive.
If you have th motherboard manual, you can visit the website for the MB and
check for the BIOS upgrade. If you don't have the  manual, look on the MB
for a st of numbers that will identify the MB model and use a search engine
(such as Google) by typing in the numbers in the search box.
