Most new mobos are backwards compatible down to 4X, but most won't run video cards at 3.3 volts or above.  They are set to run 1.5 volt cards. The older cards that are 1X or 2X are 3.3 volt, and won't work.

I will buy a good board later but want to try a older AGP board to start this computer up. Looking for a answer and maybe a good web site to read up on video.
