Connecting two audio to one connection

I'm install a CD-R/W drive into an IBM 350-P100. The sound card has only 1
audio connection which is connected to the CD-ROM drive. Can one run the
CD-R/W drive audio into the same connector, as the drive won't be playing
audio at the same time, without any problems.
